The Chester Priority Sector was created in May 2024 by Aris Kalofoutis and Natalia Segal as part of the McBurney Fellowship. Data was analyzed from the 2021 Canadian Census, CIUSSS, and Ville de Montreal. New data was collected through exploratory walks, where the built environment, housing, available transportation, amenities, and schools were assessed. Additionally, door-to-door surveys were conducted through speaking to a representative sample of 139 households (25.6% of the area's households). These surveys included questions on average income per household, residential status, community problems, availability of services, and benefits of living in the area.

Jane’s Walk

Since 2006 the Council has worked in the priority sectors and has been working on creating a space to bring together people working in these sectors (it is now called the Table of Action for the Priority Sectors, TAPS). The transition committee proposed to organise two meetings per year to exchange our experience and better coordinate our resources to improve the quality of life in the 5 sectors.
