Jane Walk in NDG

OBJECTIVES

  • Increase community engagement: The Jane Walk in NDG aims to foster community participation by encouraging residents to actively explore and learn about their neighborhood, fostering a sense of connection and pride in their local community.
  • Promote urban awareness: Through guided tours led by volunteers, the event seeks to raise awareness about urban planning principles, highlighting the importance of pedestrian-friendly spaces, vibrant public areas, and sustainable urban development.
  • Facilitate neighborhood storytelling: By uncovering overlooked aspects of city life and sharing stories about local landmarks, history, and culture, the Jane Walk aims to promote a deeper understanding of the neighborhood's identity and heritage among residents and participants.

JANE'S WALKS ARE BACK FOR A 16TH EDITION!
MAY 3, 4 AND 5, 2024

Jane’s Walks are an international festival that encourage people to explore neighbourhoods on foot to share stories and uncover unseen aspects of a city.

Inspired by the writings of urbanist and social icon Jane Jacobs, Jane’s Walks are part of an international annual festival of free, citizen -led neighbourhood tours. These tours are done by volunteers, held in early May, and encourage people to explore their local neighbourhoods while sharing stories and uncovering overlooked aspects of city life.
