The Council works in partnership with organisations in NDG through its participation as a member of various "Tables de concertation sectorielles". Like other neighborhoods in Montreal, NDG has different "Tables de concertation sectorielles" or local community networks that bring together organisations providing support and services to similar populations or sharing the same focus. How each "table"  functions can vary greatly depending on the make up of the members and the overall purpose of the "table".

At present there are 8 "tables" in NDG :

1. NDG Housing TableCoordinated by the NDG Community Council

The NDG Housing Table shares information about housing needs and opportunities for social and community housing development in the area. Over the past year, a sub-committee has been formed to work on a community plan for a potential housing development site at the intersection of Upper Lachine and St-Jacques Street in St-Raymond. We have been present at our Borough’s housing committee. This allows exchange with elected officials and key civil servants, such as the head of inspection service, about housing conditions and planned social housing projects in the borough. This year, the Housing Table was pleased to support a new project that will provide 29 units of adapted housing for women with mental illness. This project is being led by Groupe conseil en développement de l'habitation (Groupe CDH), one of the members of the Table, in partnership with the Centre haitien d'action.

2. CDN/NDG Employment Table  - Coordinated by the CEDC CDN/NDG

The CDN/NDG Employment Table maintains partnerships between organizations and institutions working on employability. Its role is to undertake actions to improve the employability of the residents, develop and share expertise, increase the visibility of members organizations among the population and employers, and promote local hiring practices.

3. Food Security Table - Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish

This Table is concerned how we can get enough of nutritious food in NDG. It maintains collaboration among community organizations that are providing food related-services. In 2010 the Table's main project was the seasonal fruit and vegetable markets held for eight Saturdays in September and October. Moisson Montreal was the principal supplier with independent organic and non-organic producers also present. A core of volunteers doing set-up, selling and take down were the key to the success of this community-building event.

4. Table de concertation jeunesse NDG (Youth Table NDG) - Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish

The NDG Youth Table joins partners in offering various services for youth and young adults. Our principal contribution to their work this year was our participation as fiduciary and member of the Advisory Committee for the exciting Young Leaders Project. The Young Leaders project is a capacity-building initiative that aims to encourage youth to take initiative on issues that are of importance to them. We hope that it will contribute to creating future leaders, youth aged 14-25, to work on projects that benefit their community.

5. Action Committee 6 to 12 - Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish

This Table joins organisations that offer different programs and services for children between 6 and 12 years. The Council was actively involved in several projects of the Action Committee this year including organization of after-school homework programs, the development of promotion materials and activities to help the transition from primary to secondary school. However, the Bienvenue à NDG project received the largest support from the Council.

6. Partnership TAble 0 to 5 - Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish

The 0-5 Partnership Network works to develop and implement initiatives for vulnerable families with children age 0 to 5. It's main objective is to mitigate the negative impacts of health and social risk factors. This Table focuses on living conditions, behavior and habits, psycho-social environment, physical environment, and organisation of health and social services.

7. NDG Seniors Table - Coordinated by the NDG Senior Citizen Council

With leadership from the NDG Senior Citizens Council and the CSSS Cavendish, this Table ensures that the seniors in our community receive the resources and support they need to maintain their quality of life. The Council shares relevant information from other tables to support collaboration on issues such as food security, housing and recreation.

8.Table interculturelle NDG - Coordinated by the NDG Community Council

The NDG Community Council is committed to working on the issue of services for new immigrants in NDG. In addition to playing a leadership role in the creation of the Table interculturelle NDG, the Council has acted as fiduciary for the Bienvenue à NDG project since its inception in 2009. In 2010, the closing of the organization that had provided ser-vices to new immigrants in NDG left a serious gap in services in our community. Since then, the Community Council has taken initiative on the issue of services to newly-arrived residents by supporting the development of the Table inter-culturelle NDG and by acting as interim fiduciary for the provision of services to new immigrants. Continuing to work closely with our partner organizations, our successes this year include: (1 retaining a portion of the services offered to newly-arrived immigrants, known as Programme d’accompagnement des nouveaux arrivants [PANA], (2) continuing to provide support to the Table interculturelle whose work this year included the elaboration of a 3-year action plan and resource sheet for immigrants in NDG and (3) developing a working group on the issue of services for immigrants in NDG, which involves the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles and other leading organizations working on this dossier.
