Coordinated by the NDG Community Council
The NDG Housing Table shares information about housing needs and opportunities for social and community housing development in the area. Over the past year, a sub-committee has been formed to work on a community plan for a potential housing development site at the intersection of Upper Lachine and St-Jacques Street in St-Raymond. We have been present at our Borough’s housing committee. This allows exchange with elected officials and key civil servants, such as the head of inspection service, about housing conditions and planned social housing projects in the borough.

COALITION FOR FOOD SECURITY
This coalition works towards the development of a sustainable food system that ensures access to sufficient healthy, affordable, culturally-appropriate food for all residents of NDG. It facilitates collaboration amongst community organizations providing services that address problems related to food insecurity. Some of our achievements include:
- The Good Food Box: The NDG Coalition launched the first Good Food Box programme. This award-winning programme has gone on to expand across the province. Current efforts are underway to renew and expand membership in NDG.
- Seasonal Markets: The seasonal market is held twice weekly during the summer:
- Fridays (July 6th to August 31st) 14h - 18h 30 at Parc Georges-Saint-Pierre
- Saturdays (July 7th to September 22nd) 10h - 14h at Parc Benny
- Au pois chic: The Coalition launched Au pois chic, a social economy food services and catering initiative to help increase food security and meet local employment needs.
- *New* À la table NDG!: The NDG Food Security Coalition is engaging all of the food security initiatives that serve the NDG community in a conversation about how we can best work together to develop a collective response to food insecurity. The principle elements of this project are the creation of a comprehensive, accessible portrait of all of the food security resources available in our neighbourhood and an opportunity for many of these partners to gather and discuss the issues they face that can best be addressed cooperatively. TABLE DE CONCERTATION JEUNESSE NDG (YOUTH TABLE)
Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish
The NDG Youth Table brings together partners to offer various services for youth and young adults. Our principal contribution to their work this year was our participation as fiduciary and member of the Advisory Committee for the exciting Young Leaders Project. The Young Leaders project is a capacity-building initiative that aims to encourage youth to take initiative on issues that are of importance to them. We hope that it will contribute to creating future leaders, and consequently inspire them to work on projects that benefit their community. >> Click here to see the youth information and services in NDG >>
Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish
This Table assembles a variety of organisations that offer different programs and services for children between 6 and 12 years. The Council was actively involved in several projects of the Action Committee this year including organization of after-school homework programs, the development of promotion materials and activities to help the transition from primary to secondary school. However, the Bienvenue à NDG project received the largest support from the Council.
0-5 PARTNERSHIP TABLE
Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish
The 0-5 Partnership Network works to develop and implement initiatives for vulnerable families with children age 0 to 5. It's main objective is to mitigate the negative impacts of health and social risk factors. This Table focuses on living conditions, behavior and habits, psycho-social environment, physical environment, and organisation of health and social services.
NDG SENIORS TABLE
Coordinated by the NDG Senior Citizen Council
With leadership from the NDG Senior Citizens Council and the CSSS Cavendish, this Table ensures that the seniors in our community receive the resources and support they need to maintain their quality of life. The Council shares relevant information from other tables to support collaboration on issues such as food security, housing and recreation.
NDG INTERCULTURAL TABLE
Coordinated by the NDG Community Council
The NDG Community Council is committed to working on the issue of services for new immigrants in NDG. In addition to playing a leadership role in the creation of the Table interculturelle NDG, the Council has acted as fiduciary for the Bienvenue à NDG project since its inception in 2009. In 2010, the closing of the organization that had provided ser-vices to new immigrants in NDG left a serious gap in services in our community. Since then, the Community Council has taken initiative on the issue of services to newly-arrived residents by supporting the development of the Table inter-culturelle NDG and by acting as interim fiduciary for the provision of services to new immigrants. Continuing to work closely with our partner organizations, our successes this year include: (1 retaining a portion of the services offered to newly-arrived immigrants, known as Programme d’accompagnement des nouveaux arrivants [PANA], (2) continuing to provide support to the Table interculturelle whose work this year included the elaboration of a 3-year action plan and resource sheet for immigrants in NDG and (3) developing a working group on the issue of services for immigrants in NDG, which involves the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles and other leading organizations working on this dossier.
