Table de Quartier NDG

The NDG Community Council is one of 33 Tables de Quartier on the Island of Montreal. However, the Council is unique in its structure in that all seats on the Board are held by NDG residents. It does occur that Board members also work for organizations in NDG but they do not represnt that organization. The Council provides organisations in NDG with a space to network and discuss issues of interest in the community through its Round Table Meetings. Through the 2020 Public Assemblies, we provide a space for residents and organisations to work together on issues of importance in the neighbourhood. The Council also works in partnership with organisations in NDG through its participation as a member of various Tables de Concertation.

NDG Round Table

Since 2005 , the Round Table meetings have been a popular space for organisations to network, exchange information, and identify areas of common concern.

NDG 2020 Public Assembly

A regular public meeting where local groups and citizens come together to discuss issues affecting the NDG community .

Meet the Candidates

In keeping with the Council  tradition of informing citizens and encouraging their involvement in the political process, , the council organizes Meet the Candidates public meetings during elections (school boards, municipal, provincial, federal )

Round Table meetings  provide a unique opportunity for representatives of community organizations in NDG to get together to network, exchange information, and identify areas of common concern. These gatherings happen approximately four times per year and are attended by workers of around 30 NDG organziations from various sectors (e.g seniors, youth, employment, food security) . Having the chance to discuss our work together is a way to not only ensure that our various efforts to improve the quality of life in NDG are coordinated and effective, but also helps us to identify and discuss strategies that respond to issues that effect us all. In the past year,  some of the issues discussed and strategies explored  have included the need for more community space and the need for more services for cultural communities in NDG.

Round Table meetings are organized by a committee of community workers from different organizations and institutions. If you are interested in helping to organize these meetings or in attending them as a representative of your organization, please get in touch with Halah at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. NDG 2020 Public Assembly

The NDG 2020 public assembly is a regular public meeting where local groups, public institutions  and residents  of the community come  together to discuss issues affecting NDG.  Although the format may sometimes vary, generally, the evening begins with  the “Community Exchange”, where community workers and volunteers are invited to announce new initiatives and present reports on their ongoing activities.  The second part of the meeting is a mini-forum featuring topics of importance to the community and presented by local groups. The 2020 community organizer works with a support committee of organizations and citizens. This committee plays an important role as a link between the community and the Council. We encourage new members to join the committee to help us better serve and represent the community.   All residents and community workers are welcome to make announcements and to participate in the discussions.

How can you participate in a NDG 2020 public assembly?

If you are an NDG resident or interested in NDG issues, you can just come, listen and enter into the discussion if you would like to. You can also help organize the events by joining  the NDG 2020 Support  Committee

If you are involved in an NDG organization you can participate by  helping put together a mini-forum discussion or participate in the Community Exchange period in order to share your upcoming projects with residents and other community workers. You can also volunteer with the NDG 2020 Support Committee and help plan, organize and advertise the assemblies.

Please join us at our next NDG 2020 Public Assembly, and learn more about activiites and issues that have an impact on the  quality of life in the NDG community. For more information, phone 514 484-1471, or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Table de concertation NDG

Like other communities in Montreal, NDG has a variety of community tables that bring together organizations who provide support and services to similar populations  or share a focus . The overall goal of the tables is to serve the community better through sharing information and working togather on initiatives of common concern. How each table  functions  can vary greatly depending on the make up of the members and the overall purpose of the Table. At present there are 8 sectoral tables in NDG.

1. NDG Housing Table
The NDG Housing Table continued to meet over the past year to share information about housing needs and opportunities for social and community housing development in the area. A sub-committee of the table has been struck to work on a community plan for a potential housing development site at the intersection of Upper Lachine and St-Jacques street in St-Raymond. We’ve also maintained our presence at our borough’s housing committee where we have the chance to dialogue with elected officials and key civil servants, such as the head of inspection service, about housing conditions and planned social housing projects in the borough. This year the housing table was pleased to lend its support to a new supportive housing project that will provide 29 units of adapted housing for women with mental illness. This project is being led by Groupe CDH, one of the members of the table, in partnership with the Centre haitien d'action.

Coordinated by the NDG Community Council

2. CDN/NDG Employment Table
The Employment Table exists to establish a partnership between organizations working on employability in CDN/NDG. Its role is to undertake concerted actions to improve the employability of their clientele and their insertion in the workforce, foster the exchange of information, develop and share expertise, increase the visibility of employability organizations among the general population and among employers in particular, and promote the use of local labour by employers.

Coordinated by the NDG/CDN CEDC

3. Food Security Table
This table brings together NDG organizations and institutions which have a preoccupation in how we as a community can increase access to adequate and nutritious food. The table’s principle project this year, other than ongoing collaboration between community organizations that are providing food related-services, was the seasonal fruit and vegetable markets that were held for eight Saturdays in September and October. We were lucky to have Merissa Nudelman coordinate the markets held on the Benny Farm site. Moisson Montreal was the principal supplier with independent organic and non-organic producers also present. A core of volunteers doing set-up, selling and take down were the key to the success of this community-building event.

Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish

4. Table de concertation jeunesse NDG
The NDG Youth Table continues to be extremely active. Our principal contribution to their work this year was our participation as fiduciary and member of the advisory committee for the exciting Young Leaders project. The Young Leaders project is a capacity-building initiative that aims to encourage youth to act on issues that are of importance to them. The hope is that this project will have a hand in creating future leaders by bringing together youths aged 14-25 to work on projects benefitting their community.
Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish

5. Comité d’action 6-12 NDG
The Council was actively involved in several projects of the NDG action committee this year including: the organizing of collective activities between after-school homework programs; the development of promotional information sheets; and, planning activities to help the transition from primary to secondary school. However, it was the Bienvenue à NDG project that received the largest dedication of Council resources.
Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish

6. Table des partenaires 0-5 ans
The 0-5 Table works to develop and implement initiatives that contribute to reversing the negative impacts of social risk factors present in more vulnerable families. The Table strives to implement an intersectorial action plan targeting the health and social factors that contribute to the health and well-being of families. Specific areas of interest to the table are:Living conditions, behavior and habits that affect the well-being and health of the family, psycho-social environment, physical environment, health and social services organizations.
Coordinated by the CSSS Cavendish

7. Table des ainés NDG
With leadership from the NDG Senior Citizens Council and the CSSS Cavendish, the NDG seniors’ table brings together organizations and institutions who are preoccupied with ensuring seniors in our community receive the resources and support they need to maintain their quality of life. The Council participates to communicate relevant information from other sector initiatives and to provide support for collaborative efforts.
Coordinated by NDG Senior Citizen Council

8. Table Verte
The focus of the Green Table is to bring together organizations and citizens who would like to share information and work together on NDG-related environmental issues.
Coordinated by the Eco –Quartier NDG
